PRegnancy!Being pregnant is an exciting time. Your body is changing, your baby is growing, and you're receiving all kinds of unsolicited comments from family, friends, coworkers... even strangers! How exciting! I'm writing this as a pregnant person myself, I feel your pain ladies. We Millennials are the at that "child-bearing" age as Grandma loves to say! Here are 7 things you should never say to a pregnant person: #1: wow, you're huge! are you sure there's only one in there?Thank you for pointing out my ever-changing body, as if I don't look in the mirror everyday and notice it myself. I'd think I'd know if there was "more than one in there." While it's an incredible blessing to grow a baby, dealing with body changes can be tough at times. Every pregnant woman and every pregnant is different. Some women at 20-weeks have bigger bumps than women at 37-weeks, some women at 14-weeks have bumps bigger than women at 20-weeks! #2: Were you guys trying? This one I get all the time, CRINGE! I wonder if people realize they are basically asking, "Did your partner intentionally ejaculate inside of you?" Mind your damn business! #3: You don't even look pregnant! As stated previously, each woman and each pregnancy is different. Some women have noticeable bumps early on, some women do not. Implying a woman does not look pregnant is incredibly rude! #4: It's about Time! This is an insensitive comment that is usually directed toward couples who announce their pregnancy after having been together a long time without children. Given the fact that 1 in 8 couples suffer from infertility, it may have taken a while to conceive. Another fact is not every couple wants to rush into having children, nor should they feel like they have to. #5: My labor was 32 hours long...Please keep your childbirth horror stories to yourself. There is no need to cause excess worry to an expecting couple. #6: Do you want a boy or a girl? OR |
